April happenings 🌷 Also-Known-As

April 10, 2026

President's Letter

Greetings, Also-Known-As community!

I cannot believe we have finally reached April – and the celebration of the 30th year of Also-Known-As is upon us! A big heartfelt thank you to the village of volunteers and contributors who have been dedicating their time, energy, and passion to planning the 30th anniversary over the past year and a half.

To all of the community members who will be joining us in person for this momentous occasion – we cannot wait to see you! Whether this is your first Also-Known-As event or your three-thousandth, whether you are traveling by subway or across continents, your presence is what makes this gathering so meaningful.

Thirty years is more than a milestone – it is a testament to time itself: to decades of growth, evolution, and becoming. It holds the quiet, steady work of those who came before us who built a blueprint that never existed, the turning points that shaped us, and the many versions of this community that have existed along the way. Each year, each evolution, has carried us here to this moment, together.

This community has meant so much to me, and I am deeply grateful that we get to come together to celebrate it. I feel incredibly honored to have had this community hold up a mirror to my own journey, just as I’ve witnessed it do the same for so many others. My hope is that we continue to reflect and refract one another’s experiences – creating space for each of us to see ourselves more clearly within our own unique adoptee journeys.

As we reflect on the organization’s legacy, reground ourselves in our present community and all who make up its beautifully intersectional, diverse tapestry, and look ahead to what is still growing, I hope this milestone can serve as both a meaningful reunion and a powerful catalyst.

May we feel inspired, nourished, and seen – and may we find moments of adoptee joy together.

In gratitude and excitement,

Lindsay Geier 涂婷

Crowdfunding Campaign: The Reunion Short Film

Help Korean adoptee and multi-time filmmaker Dahee Kim and her team bring to life their latest short film, The Reunion. In it, a Korean American adoptee meets her biological mother in Seoul for the first time, but the reunion plays out twice. First shallow, then devastating. The Reunion disrupts narrow adoption narratives, revealing the gap between fantasy and reality. “Rooted in my own experience, this film adds to a growing body of art by adoptees changing the narrative,” says Kim.

🎥 Help fund the film through April 29.
